Understanding and Managing Compulsive Hoarding
Sunday, January 29 at 9:40am
Led by: Craig N. Sawchuk, PhD
Although classified as a subtype of obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), compulsive hoarding has a number of unique features that readily differentiates itself from other OCD subtypes. Compulsive hoarding is an extremely complex psychiatric condition that may go untreated for decades. Multiple barriers exist in providing effective care for compulsive hoarding. The purpose of this presentation is to provide a basic overview of the phenomenology of compulsive hoarding, barriers to treatment engagement and new developments in the evolution of evidence-based management strategies for patients and their families.
Upcoming Events:
"Recycle The Warmth"
Covenant is again joining in with several churches in our area to help with St. Vincent's, "Recycle The Warmth" Drive on January 27-29. This event annually provides free bedding supplies to those who seek help from St. Vincent's. There will be a large collection bin in the narthex for any gently used blankets, sheets, pillows, pillow cases, comforters, etc. Please be sure they are washed before donating! If you are interested in buying new blankets, Dane County SHOPKO stores are making new blankets available for purchase and donation at an attractive price.
If you are able to help with this outreach opportunity, please bring your donation to Covenant the weekend of January 27-29. Your generosity is greatly appreciated as we attempt to bring some warmth to our neighbors in need.
"Million Pound Challenge"
The Health Cabinet and Parish Nurse, Mary Ircink, are encouraging members of Covenant to take the challenge by joining our church team on line and improving your health in the New Year. Click here for more information.

in the sanctuary. The agenda will include receipt of the Annual Reports, receipt of the 2012 Budget, election of the 2012 Nominating Committee, and a report from the Mission Study Task Force.
"Trash & Treasure Sale" Season is NOW!
Now is a great time to start saving items for our 22nd annual "Trash & Treasure Sale!" Beginning on February 19, we will begin accepting
in-house donations. This sale, to be held on March 3, is the only fund raiser for our High School Youth traveling to the Boundary Waters and on a mission trip to St. Louis. The youth have a fine tradition of donating 10% of the net earnings to charities through which they serve on their mission trips.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Meals-on-Wheels Volunteers Needed in 2012
Covenant will be delivering meals to three routes on Sundays in February (5th, 12th, 19th and 26th).
