About Adult Education
Covenant Presbyterian church is a vibrant community committed to providing high-quality Christian education. Like the members and friends of Covenant, our adult education program is very diverse. Presenters from all walks of life provide opportunities for attendees to learn Bible basics, understand Bible complexity, develop skills in interpreting scripture and understand the application of all adult education to daily living. Current thought is examined and challenged. Fellowship is enhanced by studying in community. Faith is developed, supported and lived.
Adult Education Programs at Covenant
The Adult Christian Education Committee (ACEC) is mandated to "...create, maintain and evaluate all programs of Christian Education offered to adults." (See Plan of Organization IV.C.2.a.i., Adopted January 10, 2010)
The committee serves as a clearinghouse for the many program possibilities for our diverse audiences. Program ideas come to us in different ways. Some programs are created by Church Committees, i.e. The Health Cabinet provides regular offerings concerned with the Health and wellness of our Congregation. Some programs are created by individuals, some are created by the ACE committee in response to an acknowledged or newly identified need.
The committee wants to provide information on how you can bring us a proposed program. You may contact any committee member to discuss a program idea and they will bring the idea to the next committee meeting with an Agenda space. The committee will request that you complete a Program Profile Form.
You can provide a completed Program Profile Form (PPF), which is the form the committee uses in discussing an offering and ultimately placing a program on the calendar. This form requires a potential presenter to carefully review all of the nuances associated with providing a program. The completed form allows all of the people at Covenant who are a part of the quality program delivery team to do their jobs with fewer questions and in less time. Completed PPF's are always discussed at the first meeting after they are received.
The Program Profile Forms are available from any committee member, Mary Kieta, Molly MacVenn or on the Adult Education website. Completed forms can be e-mailed to
Kathryn Arndt, delivered or mailed to the church office, care of Adult Education.
Programs are usually calendared several months before the actual presentation. This year we are trying to plan a one year program cycle which would allow some serial presentations, some thematic possibilities and an emphasis on some of the possible synergies between the sermon and a class or a class and some event external to the church. Our effort is directed at current, relevant programming for Covenant.
The Adult Christian Education Committee provides a listing of all programs calendared for presentation approximately 6-weeks before the program will be presented. So, by checking a specific date you can see all offerings for that date, with another click you can read speaker biographical information and with another, specifics about the content of the program of your choice and with another click, reading recommended by the speaker and related to the subject matter of the presentation.
We hope you will bring us your ideas, your suggested speakers and your suggested programs. Please join us for an exciting season of adult education.
