Fellowship Friends is a new style of membership class. The main purpose is to help visitors both learn about Covenant and connect with existing members. We All Forget:
Is It Normal Aging or Should I Be Concerned?
Sunday, February 19 at 9:40am
Facilitator: Danielle Thai, Education Coordinator,
Alzheimer's & Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin
We all forget names occasionally and misplace keys and wallets. And many of us don't feel as sharp as we used to. There is growing recognition of the importance of having memory difficulties diagnosed and treated as early as possible. But not all memory glitches signify the start of a progressive disease like Alzheimer's.
How do our memories work? What's normal and what's not normal for our brains as we age? What should we do if we're concerned for ourselves or others? These questions and more will be answered at a presentation with guest speaker, Danielle Thai, Education Coordinator for the Alzheimer's & Dementia Alliance of Wisconsin.
Teens & Religion:
Walking With God Or Running Away?
Sundays, February 26 & March 4, 11, 18 at 9:40am
Led by: Brad Brown
Are the teen years typically a time when young people drift away from the church and abandon their belief in God? Not according to recent national surveys. In this class we'll look at the various religious pathways that young people take and discuss how we can best nurture the faith journeys of Covenant's own youth.
February 26: Walking with God or Running Away?
In our first session together we'll consider common myths about teens, including their religious beliefs, then look at common faith trajectories through adolescence.March 4: Insights from Adults, Advisors & Parents
We'll ask a panel of Covenant's youth advisors what they have observed in their experience with teens in our youth groups, then compare their insights to the observations of parents and other adults attending the session.March 11: In Their Own Words - Covenant Youth
We'll have an opportunity to hear directly from Covenant youth, past and present, about what the church has meant to them during their teenage years. We'll consider the challenges and benefits of being faithful and faith-filled teens.March 18: Nurturing the Journey
In our last session we will consider how best to nurture the faith journeys of teens in the church and community: from home life to worship to youth group to mission
and service.
