About Worship
In joyful gratitude, we gather weekly to worship God together and to share with one another all of God´s gracious gifts. We are a congregation committed to growing in faith and learning how our faith shapes our lives. We celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion on the first Sunday of every month and the Sacrament of Baptism regularly when requested. Our dynamic, diverse ministry of music, from classical to contemporary, helps us to lift our voices and hearts in praise. Our worship services seek to be family-friendly as well as engaging, educational, and uplifting for people of all ages. A variety of approaches to the preaching of the Word are offered including traditional sermons, youth-led worship, and puppet ministry. As a community, we seek to listen to God's word that we might be a reflection of God´s light and love to the world! We welcome you to join us!
February 2012: The Power of Love
For the month of February, I will preach a sermon series on "The Power of Love" not only because February 12th is Valentine's Day or because this national hallmark holiday mandates an occasional demonstration of love. Our earliest commandments call us to Love God and each other. The Hebrew daily prayer, the Shema includes the commandment to, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul and with all your strength (Deut. 6:5). When Jerusalem scribes debated which laws or commandments were primary, Jesus answered, "The first (commandment) is, 'Hear, O Israel: the Lord our God, the Lord is one; you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and all your mind, and all your strength. The second (commandment) is this, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no other commandment greater than these." (Mark 12:29-30)
Christ has called us to revolutionize the world with actions of love. The radical love Jesus preached and lived applies to all of us. Jesus asked his followers to love their enemies and pray for those who persecute them (Matthew 5:44). As we near this Lenten season (February 22), our scripture lessons demonstrate God's active love for us through Jesus the Christ. Let's explore the depth and meaning of the Power of God's Love." - Rev. Dr. Deb Lind-Schmitz

What is the "Pray to Prepare" e-mail list?
How do I join?
You are invited to prepare for weekly worship at Covenant by joining the Pray to Prepare e-mail group. Toward the end of each week an e-mail message is sent from the office to the group in which the Pastor shares information about the scripture and sermon, music during worship and other pertinent items related to that week's service. You are also encouraged to pray for those involved in the service preparation and to prepare your heart and mind to receive the Word through the worship experience. To receive the "Pray to Prepare" messages, please e-mail your interest to Mary Kieta.
