Small Group Ministry

Our small group ministry seeks to help members and friends embrace their gifts, and share in the ministry and the building up of the community of faith. Small groups offer us a place to deepen our faith and explore our questions. Through diversity of groups, and in a variety of ways, we share our lives and faith journeys through service, study and support. Come join us!

Dinners For Eight - Meets Monthly (Times and Dates Vary by Group)
It's time to sign up for Dinners for Eight! This fellowship opportunity is for everyone - singles, couples, and families. Groups meet once a month from October through May. It's not just about dinner - while many groups meet for meals in homes or restaurants, some groups also choose to meet for games, bowling, movies or other social activities. Some groups meet on Friday or Saturday evenings, while other groups meet during the week and some choose to meet for Sunday brunch after church. When you sign up you will have the chance to tell us the times that work best for you. This is a great opportunity to share fellowship and develop relationships with other Covenant members and friends.

Come and sign up in Bradfield Cafe on August 22, August 29, September 5 or September 12. If you are interested in facilitating a group let us know when you sign up. You may also sign up by contacting Susan Hanauer at 238-4786 or via e-mail at susanhanauer@att.net before September 12th. A "Kick Off Lunch" is planned for September 26th after the second service where everyone will find out who is in their group.

Journaling Our Faith - Meets Quarterly (Next meeting: November 15 at 7:00pm)
Journaling is a way to clarify our thoughts and emotions as well as a way to help us keep track of how we have grown in our insights and through our experiences (in life and faith) over time. In a journaling group people come together to share (as they are comfortable) their own writing and/or listen to the reflections of others. Also, during each meeting we explore other ways to stimulate our writing through music, pictures, stories, current events, objects, and scripture. All are welcome, experience in journaling isn't necessary - a curious spirit goes a long way!

Soul Sisters: New Schedule Coming Soon
S
oul Sisters is a group for women of all ages looking to deepen their relationships with God and others. This year as Covenant explores spiritual gifts, we will share our faith stories and how our gifts have blessed, guided and challenged us. Members of the group who choose are going to share with others what God has done and is doing in their lives. Not everyone will share their stories but everyone will be enriched and encouraged on their own faith journeys by listening to others! All women are welcome to join us.

Monday Women's Group: Meets First & Third Mondays at Noon

Annual Women's Retreat:
"Faith, Food and Relationships"
October 8 - 10, 2010
We have heard it said that "we are what we eat," how about "what we eat reflects who we are?" Using Geneen Roth's book, Women, Food and God as a spring roll we will explore this intricate and intriguing question. Roth says, "Our relationship to food is an exact microcosm of our relationship to life itself. I believe we are walking talking expressions of our deepest convictions; everything we believe about love, fear, transformation and God is revealed in how, when and what we eat." (page 2).

In addition to encouraging and engaging conversations, a retreat is an opportunity for fun and fellowship, walking, relaxing and renewal with new and old friends! Our fifth annual women's retreat will be held on October 8-10 at St. Vincent Pallotti Center in Elkhorn, WI. The cost will be the same as years past, $150 (scholarships are available again this year). Our retreat leaders team is Martha Abrams, Mary Ales, Anne Aley and Pastor Lin Grace Rohr. Sign up in the church office; a $25 deposit holds your spot! And, remember friends are welcome!

Questions? See Pastor Lin Grace Rohr. Copies of Roth's book are available in the church office beginning August 8 for $14.
